Speakers Bureau Application

Please describe how you would handle TWO of the following situations.

  1. You are teaching a class about sexual assault and a student begins to share some very personal and obviously painful experience about her own past victimization.

  2. During a speaking engagement the teacher who invited you makes a very inappropriate and stereotypical comment about rape victims.

  3. During a discussion about male rape, you hear a participant make a homophobic comment which seems to go unnoticed by the other members of the group.

  4. Before a presentation, you are made aware that a student in the class has a history of sexually harassing female students, and is currently on probation for a sex offense. Do you alter your presentation? Why or why not?

Please read the following statement, when you come to VIBS you will be asked to sign a printout of this form (note: all prospective volunteers must sign the pledge in order to be admitted into the program).
