The Counseling Department at VIBS provides crisis intervention counseling for victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, human trafficking and exploitation, witnesses to domestic violence-related homicide and veterans suffering from PTSD or Military Sexual Trauma (MST). VIBS counselors can help reduce emotional trauma, overcome feelings of isolation and strengthen safety.
The Veterans Counseling Program at VIBS is available for anyone who has served in the United States Military —regardless of discharge status. (A DD-214 is not necessary for services.) Our specialized Children’s Program allows us to begin seeing clients at age 3. Our Elder Abuse Program allows counselors to assist clients ages 60 and up who have been abused by a spouse, relative or caretaker.
All counseling services are trauma-informed and evidence-informed. Our programs include:
- A three-week educational series on domestic violence
- Individual and group counseling for adults, adolescents and children
- Emergency appointments of victims in crisis
- 24/7 Crisis Hotline available at: (631) 360-3606 or email us at hotline@VIBS.org
